Bookflix! Online Stories

The library subscribes to a fun reading program that you and your child can access from home! Scholastic BookFlix is an online literacy resource that pairs classic video storybooks from Weston Woods with related nonfiction eBooks from Scholastic to build a love of reading and learning. This engaging resource for children in grades PreK - 3 will help early readers develop and practice essential reading skills and introduces students to a world of knowledge and exploration.

HelpNow! Online Homework Help

Do you need help with your homework? How about a writing lab to help you write better term papers and reports? Or maybe you need a little extra help understanding a math concept. You can even get help with your Spanish homework!

The library has subscribed to a great new online tutoring service called HelpNow! All you need is your library card. To get started, click on the HelpNow link below and receive one-on-one online help from an expert tutor (available from 1 pm to 10 pm): HelpNow

Summer Reading Program!

The theme this summer is "Dream Big - Read", and will run from Monday June 4th through Saturday July 14th. We have some fun programs and prizes planned!

Lively bi-lingual concert with Juan Sanchez. Juan is a singer, songwriter and educator from Spain - Thursday June 7th at 1:30pm, all ages

Ventriloquist Steve Chaney with his sidekick "Cornelius". Sure to be a clever, funny show! - Thursday June 14th at 1:30pm, for ages 3 and up

Magician Perry Yan. Join us for a family fun magic show! - Thursday June 21st at 1:30pm, for ages 4 and up

Drop in craft. Make your own Constellation frame , and watch it light up in the dark! Thursday June 28th from 1:30-3pm, all ages

Art with Dante Rondo. Tweens will have a chance to have fun and explore their creativity in acrylics, watercolor and sketching. All materials supplied. Saturday June 30th from 10:30-12:30, ages 10 - 14 years

Magic Show with Timothy James. His comedy and magic will captivate you! Thursday July 5 at 1:30pm, ages 3 and up

Musical Performance with Asheba, featuring calypso music. Sure to get you dancing at the library! - Thursday July 12 at 1:30pm, all ages

We have some fun reading rewards too! They include: a bracelet, a bobble head doggy, a toy horse or a toy ATV vehicle, pizza from Pizza My Heart, ice cream from the Carmel Bakery, and a kaleidoscope. Plus we are doing the Design a Bookmark contest again, along with the Friends of the Library .More great news : the Carmel Resident's Association will be donating 25 gift certificates worth $20.00 each to River House Books. We will do drawings before each program! See you this summer!

Baby and Toddler Storytime

You and your baby or toddler will hear short stories, sing songs, learn fingerplays and rhymes, and have fun! Afterward, we gather at the craft tables to color and socialize! With Mrs. Grace. Note that Wednesday May 30 will be our last storytime until the beginning of September. For infants to 3 years. Every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.

We are very fortunate to have Marylee Sunseri and Stephanie Brown of Music Together visit us throughout the year. They are both so talented and entertaining!

Family Craft Time

Join Miss Linda for a fun, creative drop-in craft or art project one Saturday a month, from 1:30-2:30. This is a program for the entire family. We will do a different project each month, and all supplies are included! We will be making Wind Chimes in May. Join us for this fun, educational family project. Please mark your calendars for Saturday May 12th.

Arts and Crafts for Ages 9 - 14

Express yourself through art! We are offering the following drawing and painting classes with Dante Rondo. Programs are free, with all materials supplied. For ages 9 - 14.

  • Acrylic or Water Color Painting Class, Saturday, Feb.11, 10:30am-12:30pm
  • Drawing and Composition Class, Thursday, March 15, 3:15pm-4:45pm
  • Acrylic or Water Color Painting Class, Saturday, April 21, 10:30am-12:30pm

Local artist Dante Rondo has taught art for over 20 years on the Peninsula and has been working as an artist since 1970. A resident of Carmel By The Sea, his early training includes drawing, printmaking, painting, photography, and sculpture.

And in May, we have a craft program: Make an Angry Bird on Thursday, May 17 with Miss Pat, 3:15 -4:45 pm

Teen Volunteers

We are always looking for teen volunteers. Volunteers are needed to assist staff with fun and easy projects. We are very friendly, easy going, and want to help you complete those community service hours required for graduation. Please contact Grace at 646-4664 if you are interested. Volunteer - it will look great on your college application!
