What's New for Kids?
Baby and Toddler Storytime
You and your baby or toddler will hear short stories, sing songs, learn fingerplays and rhymes, and have fun. Afterward, we gather at the craft tables to color and socialize with Mrs. Grace. Every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., for infants to 3 years. Please note that Wednesday May 29th will be the last Baby & Toddler storytime until the beginning of September.
Special Guest Storytimes
Once a month we will have special musical guests at our storytime. Marylee Sunseri, Stephanie Brown, Ms. Sarah and will be here throughout the year.

New After School Craft Program - ages 5 - 9
After School is Cool! Join Miss Pat for a fun, creative drop-in craft or art project the first Tuesday of the month. We will do a different project each month, and all supplies are included! This program is for children ages 5 through 9. Make your mother feel special by decorating a Mother's Day card! All materials are included. Please join us Tuesday, May 7th, from 3:30-4:30.Tween Art with Dante - ages 9 - 14
Express yourself through art! We are offering drawing and painting classes with Dante Rondo. Local artist Dante Rondo has taught art for over 20 years on the Peninsula and has been working as an artist since 1970. A resident of Carmel, his early training includes drawing, printmaking, painting, photography, and sculpture. Classes are held a the Park Branch Library on Mission and Sixth Street. For ages 9 through 14 years old. Please note that Dante will be back in the fall with more classes. Thank you Dante! Have a great summer.
Reading is Soooo Delicious!
We are busy planning our summer reading program. It will run from Monday June 3rd through Saturday July 13. We will be also doing the Design a Bookmark Contest again with the Friends of the Library. A big thank you to the Carmel Resident's Association, who this year again will be donating twenty-five $20.00 gift certificates to River House Books. It is sure to be a busy, fun summer! More details still to come. Here is a line up of our special programs:
Thursday June 6th, 1:30pm - Magic Show with Timothy James - featuring magic and comedy that transforms ordinary gatherings into unforgettable experiences. For ages 3 and up.
Thursday June 13th, 1:30pm - Big Sur artist Erin Gafill returns to do collage art featuring still life of fruits and vegetables. For ages 3 and up.
Thursday June 20th, 1:30pm - Executive Chef from Earthbound Farm Sarah Lacasse will demonstrate how to make yummy, healthy treats. For ages 3 and up.
Thursday June 27th, 1:30pm - Puppet Show featuring Puppylocks and the Three Bears with Magical Moonshine Theatre. For ages 3 and up.
Wednesday July 3rd, 1:30pm - Mexican music and dance with Cascada de Flores. Fun for the whole family.
Tuesday July 9th, 1:30pm - Magic Show with "The Great Jonathan". For ages 3 and up.
Thursday July 11th, 1:30pm - Tweens! Scott Lund of Lula's Chocolates will speak about chocolate and confectionery making. Tweens will also be able to enjoy delicious samples. For ages 9 and up. Please pre-register.

Bookflix - Online Stories
The library subscribes to a fun reading program that you and your child can access from home! Scholastic BookFlix is an online literacy resource that pairs classic video storybooks from Weston Woods with related nonfiction eBooks from Scholastic to build a love of reading and learning. This engaging resource for children in grades PreK - 3 will help early readers develop and practice essential reading skills and introduces students to a world of knowledge and exploration.

Teen Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to assist staff with fun and easy projects. We are very friendly, easy going, and want to help you complete those community service hours required for graduation. Please contact Grace at 646-4664 if you are interested. Volunteer - it will look great on your college application.
