Reference Librarians are available to help find answers to your questions.
The answer to your reference question may be a short fact, may require an extensive search or may involve a referral to a source outside the library.

Find Books in Other Libraries.

If you cannot find the materials that you are looking for at Harrison Memorial Library, you can search the catalogs of nearby libraries. Start your search now: California Libraries Catalog.

Interlibrary Loan

Materials not owned by Harrison Library may be borrowed from other libraries. Interlibrary loan requests are processed at the Library's Reference Desks. There is a $3 fee per request for this service.

Services at the Library

Microfilm Reader

A microfilm reader is located in the reference room. Copies may be made from microfilm and cost $.20 per page, payable to the reference librarian.

Photocopy Machine

A self-serve photocopy machine is located in the reference room. The cost is $.20 per page. The machine takes dollar bills and coins and will provide change.

Typewriter

A typewriter is available free of charge for library patrons. The typewriter is located downstairs. You must provide your own materials.

Magnifier

The ClearView Video Magnifier System is located in the reference room. The machine magnifies anything placed under it from 2X to 50X times its original size and helps people with limited vision to magnify print or writing. It can also change foreground and background colors to assist people in reading or writing. The magnifier is available free of charge and no reservations are required. If you need assistance using the magnifier, please see the reference librarian.

For Persons with Disabilities

Persons with disabilities who do not wish to use the stairs can enter the library to the right of the main entrance. This entrance is accessible via exterior ramps, and there is a bell outside the door for patrons who need additional assistance. A laptop computer with Zoomtext is available for patrons who are unable to access the public internet terminals in the reference room.

Test Proctoring

We proctor exams on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings only between 5 and 8 PM.  Call the reference librarian for an appointment - (831) 624-7323. No “drop-in” test proctoring is available.  At the time of testing, the student must provide current photo identification. Students should bring all supplies required during their tests.

We will meet the testing institution’s requirements whenever possible, but reserve the right to refuse proctoring services if the requirements exceed staff or facility capabilities.  The library will not keep copies of test materials.

Students are responsible for all costs connected with the tests, including costs of returning the exam to the testing institution (e.g.: fax fees or postage). Students must provide correctly-sized envelopes and postage for test materials that need to be mailed back to the educational institution.
