Storytime!Storytime runs from the beginning of September through the end of May. This year we will have Family Storytime on the first Saturday of the month. We are excited that Miss Judy will be doing the Family Storytime. We also have special guests, such as Stephanie Brown and Marylee Sunseri through the year. Baby and Toddler Storytime: You and your baby or toddler
will hear short stories, sing
songs, learn fingerplays and rhymes, and have fun! After we gather
at the craft tables to color and socialize! With Miss Grace. For infants to 3 years.
Starting September 8th. Family Storytime Miss Judy Peiken will be doing the family storytime on the 1st Saturday of the month. Come and hear lively stories, rhymes, songs, and afterward enjoy a small craft. Please note that this program is held the 1st Saturday of the month, but because of the Labor Day holiday the Family Storytime will be held Saturday Sept. 11th at 1:30pm.
We are in the final days of our Summer Reading Program. We had over 250 children sign up, and we are so proud of every one of them! Thank you all for being part of our program. A special thank you to The Carmel Bakery, Pizza My Heart, Carmel Valley Community Youth Center, and the Carmel Public Library Foundation for all of their support.
Make a Splash! That is the theme of our summer reading club! It will run from Monday June 21st through Saturday July 31st. You get to earn reading rewards while you have fun reading this summer!. We also have these fun weekly programs planned, so please mark your calendars! Thursday July 1, 1:30pm WHERE THE WET THINGS ARE! A storytelling safari with lots of audience participation, coming here to entertain you all the way from New Mexico! Featuring Bob Kanegis and Liz Mangual of Tales and Trails Storytelling. For all ages.
Thursday July 8, 1:30pm DAFFY DAVE! He will make you laugh with his juggling, music, clowning, balloons and magic. Daffy Dave is back by popular demand! If you like Captain Underpants you will love Daffy Dave! Lots of silly fun! For ages 4 and up. Tuesday July 13, 1:30pm ANDY Z! Andy is a singer, songwriter and performer for children, whose music will also entertain adults. Perfect for children under 8 years. Thursday July 15, 11am-1:00pm TWEEN ART PROGRAM - Drawing and painting fun with local artist Dane Rondo. Students will create an art project based on ocean, water, and landscapes or marine life. They can work in their choice of charcoal, colored pencils, or acrylic paints. For ages 11 - 15, with a maximum of 15 students. Please pre-register. Thursday July 22, 1:30pm TOMMY'S SPLASHY PIRATE ADVENTURE! Don't miss this puppet show! Our favorite puppeteer Art Gruenberger of PuppetArt Theatre is back by popular demand. For ages 3 and up. Thursday July 29, 1:30pm MAGIC DAN! He will amaze you with his magic show, AND make you laugh! For all ages.
Design a Bookmark Contest! We are excited to let you know that for the 3rd year in a row we will be doing our Design a Bookmark Contest! This will be sponsored by the Friends of the Library, and will run the same dates as the Summer Reading Program, June 21 through July 31. Three winners will be chosen, and the prizes include a $25.00 gift certificate to either Target or Borders, and a supply of your very own bookmarks. We will also make copies of the winning bookmarks available to public through the year. Winners will be announced at the beginning of September.
Read to a Dog We have been so lucky to have Maggie and Kasey as loyal members of our team. For the last few years, they have made time in their busy schedules to regularly visit us. Thanks to their owners, Patti and Michael Emmett for being so dedicated. However, for insurance reasons, we have decided to discontinue this program for the time being.
Bella is a 2 year old, 13 pound Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Her owner is Scott Eccher. Bella is gentle, loving, and sweet, and has the most beautiful brown eyes! We would like to thank Bella for also being part of the Read to a Dog team.
Teen Volunteers!We are always looking for teen volunteers. Volunteers are needed to assist staff with fun and easy projects. We are very friendly, easy going, and want to help you complete those community service hours required for graduation. Please contact Pat at 646-4664 if you are interested.
