Carmel. The Arts & Crafts Club was established and in 1906 the
earthquake in San Francisco left many artists & authors homeless.
Carmel beckoned to them as a beautiful, quiet and inexpensive haven.
Amongst the Bohemians were Mary Austin, Arnold Genthe, James Hopper,
Upton Sinclair, and Sinclair Lewis. |
